In the lower eyelids, fat bags that sometimes can have large dimensions are removed. This intervention can be performed in two ways:
- Transconjunctival via: the most widely used, it consists of making a small incision, by which the fat is removed through the internal lining of the eyelid. It is not necessary suture because this tissue heals very well by itself. In this type of operation the eyes are protected with special contact lenses after putting a few anesthetic drops. This procedure is the most common when it is not necessary to remove the skin. The great advantage of this technique is that it does not leave any scar and it does not change the eye shape.
- Transcutaneous via: it is a small cut under the tabs which are extracted the fat bags and it is closed through very fine stitches that, at the same time, are used to tighten the skin.
The duration of the intervention uses to be approximately of a half an hour, depending on if you are getting your four eyelids operated at the same time or just the upper or the lower ones.
Between the 4 and 7 first days, you can return to normal life. Physical exercise is recommended after 15 days.
